This service allows individuals to have photocopies of their documents certified at post offices all over the national territory (mainland Portugal and the islands). At the request of clients, this service will certify that the photocopies conform to the respective original documents or other certified photocopies.
Decree-law No. 28/2000 dated 13 March empowered the public mail service operator – CTT Correios de Portugal – to attest and certify photocopies of documents, which have the same legal value as the originals.
CTT offers the necessary conditions to:
- Provide citizens and commercial agents with an alternative form of certifying documents
- Facilitate access to this service
- Ensure speedy processing of requests
- Guarantee the accuracy and clarity of the certified documents.
The DGCI issued a circular No. 14/2003 dated 22 October which states: “…the certification of photocopies is not subject to stamp duties since they are not notary instruments.”
Prices:
- Each document up to 4 pages (inclusive)
17,00 euros
- Each additional page
2,00 euros
These prices include VAT at prevailing rates.
